Menopause or "Me No Pause?"

I know strange title isn't it? As I dig deeper into research on Breast Health (or Breast Cancer) it has led me down many additional rabbit holes & late nights. The information available to us is astounding but yet not in our faces. As I started my blog post today I was a bit overwhelmed in how to share the depth of information with you on hormones and their impacts so I can help make a difference. Here is what came to me: "Me (I), No (I will not), Pause...for DISEASE.

Did you know the amount of diseases that impact women happen during peri-menopause and menopause are significant? Diseases such as breast cancer, high blood pressure, arthritis, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, high cholesterol, cardio vascular disease, depression, hypo or hyper thyroidism, and the list goes on. What could the root cause be? HORMONE IMBALANCE.

How are most of these diseases treated? The symptoms are treated with medications which also have side effects, but the root cause is not identified. Ladies, your hormones and menopause are not something to laugh off and think it will go away. It will cause havoc in your life and your health.

Cardio Vascular disease is the number 1 killer of women followed by Breast Cancer. Here is a great article outlining the impacts of hormones on cardio vascular disease https://www.uscjournal.com/articles/menopause-cholesterol-and-cardiovascular-disease-0

The good news is there is a way to stay on top of your hormones and ensure you are supporting your body. We do not need to "Pause for disease" during menopause. Get your hormones checked by investing in your health and order a "Dutch Test Complete" through your Naturopathic Dr. that is trained in the Dutch Testing. If you don't have one or need options to consider please reach out to me.

I personally have been on this journey and have learned so much which is why I am sharing with you. My previous breast health issues, although high levels of estrogen dominance in addition to fibrocystic breasts (which is not healthy and can lead to Breast Cancer) I also had an underlying condition where my estrogen was not methylating properly in my body. Who knew that was a thing?? As I get hormone(s) under control I work on the next. This week I had my testosterone blood work taken and awaiting results. Low levels of testosterone can cause just as much havoc including low libido, (which I know both my husband and I will be happy to have fixed), weight gain, changes in mood (increase in anxiety), and left untreated for longer periods of time it can lead to heart disease, poor memory and loss of bone density. Not something I am signing up for.

I know I plan on living a long life - but a long life filled with health, happiness, vitality, joy & ease. Not a long life filled with disease management.

I am cheering you on! Here is to every woman celebrating and living her best life with vitality, joy, health & endless wisdom to be shared with our daughters, nieces, grand daughters, friends & family.

When menopause is referred to as "The Change" - You really are the "CHANGE" for future generations. Let's help each other by having these discussions and offering help & support where we can with this information.

Blessings of Love & Light

Kathryn
